Guangzhou as it is.....Part 1

This time we were hit by Typhoon Jangmi over Taiwan making the flight shaked like a milkshake ! Reached HK airport ahead of scheduled time , took the train from the airport to Kowloon station and then a taxi to Hung Hom station to cross over the border. The ride was almost 2 hours by fast rapid train and took another half hour to get over Custom and Immigration - this time we were stopped !! Not explosive in the bag but oranges - japanese mikan which we had bought in Jusco !

Anyway to make the story short , we were waited at the arrival hall and was greeted by the chaffeur and a guest officer.Reached the hotel after about 15 mins drive from the station and another surprise because some of the staff still remember us !

From the room you could see the City of Guangzhou - the last time we were here was May this year but the developments in the city is so rapid - fast -and the increased number of high rise buildings and skyscrapers and showrooms for luxury cars - first time I ever saw in my travels where you find Ferrari, Lamborghini, BMW, M-Benz showrooms like coffee shops !

Another view of the city

The hotel itself at night - and.......the typhoon wind still blowing over the flagpole.

A big water feature at the entrance - just right at the center - could it be the Water Star 8 or 9 residing there ??!!

And last but not least - an autographed book by the writer himself.

Good night and will continue blogging after the cm........................

another view from the other end

an interesting mural on one of the wall inside the tower.

spotted near Roppongi Hills , Singapura - I'm sure they must have Curry Laksa and Nasi Goreng there !!

Google your way home....

Yes.....this is what I want.2009 onwards , some of BMW's top models will be equipped with Google Nav and running Windows CE or Home Mobile as standard.
And it's not only that but that does include standard BMW Assist functionality like locating your car if it's stolen or dispatching an ambulance if you're in a horrible accident. Yeah, we only care about the searching too.
read more about on board PC here...

Vaio..Whyao...

Someone 'donated' an old Vaio to me.It seems that it cannot be recovered. But I'd like to give it a try. From the beginning , I knew the monitor display is already kaput , the hard disk sounds like a fruit mixer and the recovery software from Sony is unavailable but still..........

Got it hooked to a monitor first. Then was to 'hacked' through the disk and retrieve the drivers.Sony's Viao need Sony Vaio's softwares and hardwares - it is not interchangeable - the reason why I would never buy a Vaio myself.Managed to retrieve the drivers , next is to 'hard format' the hard disk.Took sometimes though , old disk , sounds like grinding machine but got it done.

and then...(trumpet ) paraa.......clean installed XP using F-disks , the safest way...
installation completed - did a complete defrag - using a 3rd party software - deleted all useless files and now it's up and working ! I'll use that as my testing ground. Thinking of installing Ubuntu next ! Yahoo !!

Chrome...is chromed.

The new browser from Google codename - Chrome is already out for downloads but still in Beta mode , anyone interested can download >> go to Google's main page and look for ' Chrome - download'

Once downloaded you and install immediately but initial installation will automatically set it to your default computer's language - since my default is japanese , it install itself in that language.
No worries , after the installation is complete , you can go to their page setting and change the language.

the browser looks good but in terms of safety from malwares and viruses , no idea yet

what I like most is are the bookmarks and pages that you had visited , it'all compiled into a page with thumbnails which makes easier to navigate.

see ya !!
